Who We Are?

About Compassionate Heart Action Foundation (CHAF) Canada International.

Compassionate Heart Action Foundation (CHAF) Canada International. was founded with a deep commitment to helping those in need. The organization began as a dream of Yvonne Djonou Makamte, a visionary who sought to bridge the gap between challenges faced by indigenous Canadians and new immigrants. Today, CHAF stands as a beacon of hope in Calgary, Canada, offering services that touch lives and build stronger communities.

Our services focuses on providing essential support in the following ways:

1. Supporting Newcomers in Alberta

Yvonne warmly welcomes newcomers with generosity and care. She:
– Provides them with an initial supply of essential food to help them settle.
– Guides them to competent organizations for successful integration.
– Offers them a modern temporary shelter for themselves and their families, giving them the peace of mind to find permanent housing.

2. Assisting the Elderly

Yvonne brings joy and comfort to seniors through initiatives such as:
– Organizing collective surprise birthday celebrations, complete with personalized gifts.
– Making regular phone calls to remind them of their medical appointments and personally accompanying those undergoing treatments like chemotherapy.
– Hosting health awareness workshops, aimed at boosting their self-confidence and promoting their well-being.

3. Empowering the Youth

During the summer, Yvonne organizes educational and engaging activities for young people. These include:
– Sessions on the dangers of addictions (drugs, alcohol, etc.).
– Practical workshops to encourage mutual support, such as teaching boys how to groom themselves and girls how to style hair, do makeup, and perform manicures and pedicures.

4. Creating Economic Opportunities

Yvonne brings together newly arrived women and men in Calgary, offering them temporary opportunities to use their skills. Through this:
– They earn an income to meet essential needs.
– They share and learn skills from one another, such as braiding techniques, makeup, and cake design.
